GOP 2024 contenders criticize Biden’s stance on Israel and Ukraine.
The 2024 Republican Presidential Field Reacts to Biden’s Address on Israel and Ukraine
The 2024 Republican presidential field was far from impressed with President Joe Biden’s recent address on the wars in Israel and Ukraine. Former President Donald Trump wasted no time in criticizing the speech even before it took place on Thursday night.
“The horrific catastrophes taking place in Israel as well as the chaos on our Southern Border and in hotspot after hotspot around the world, all have one thing in common: they were caused by Crooked Joe Biden’s deadly combination of incompetence, radicalism, and weakness,”
Trump’s campaign released a statement, making it clear that they believe Biden is responsible for the current disasters. They also sent out a video titled “The World Was Safer Under President Donald J. Trump,” highlighting the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Ukraine-Russia war, and the prisoner exchange deal with Iran as examples of Biden’s failures.
Not one to hold back, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to continue his attack on Biden and the Democrats.
“As I successfully fight these Political Opponent Lawsuits, all created and started by Crooked Joe Biden and his group of Radical Left Thugs, I realize how insignificant they are compared to the horror of what is going on with Israel and the Middle East, where thousands of people have so needlessly died, in a war that should have NEVER STARTED, and millions could very easily follow, all due to the highly incompetent Biden Administration and their policies of Weakness and Appeasement (and of being just plain STUPID!)”
Former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley also blamed Biden for the Middle East conflict, stating that his weakness in Afghanistan, slowness in Ukraine, pandering to Iran, and absence from the border have contributed to the current situation. She emphasized the need for strong new leadership in America.
A super PAC supporting former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie released an ad calling for new American leadership in a dangerous world. The ad highlighted the importance of experience, strong leadership, and standing up for democracy and the rule of law.
Senator Tim Scott expressed his frustration with Biden’s speech, particularly the lack of focus on Israel and the emphasis on Ukraine. He believed that more resources should be allocated to Israel to help them win the war.
While Biden’s support for Israel during their conflict with Hamas may be well-received internationally, it hasn’t garnered the same enthusiasm among Republican presidential candidates. They remain critical of Biden’s foreign policy efforts.
In his address, Biden drew a connection between the wars in Israel and Ukraine, highlighting the shared goal of annihilating neighboring democracies by Hamas and Putin. He also mentioned Putin’s denial of Ukraine’s statehood.
The president’s budget office revealed a request for funding, with $61.4 billion allocated for Ukraine, $14.3 billion for Israel, and additional funds for border security, humanitarian aid, and countering China’s influence in the Indo-Pacific. The total amount requested was higher than expected.
Governor Doug Burgum criticized Biden’s foreign policy efforts, blaming them for multiple international crises. He pointed to the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and the energy policies that made Western Europe dependent on Russian energy as contributing factors to the current conflicts.
The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas has resulted in a significant loss of life, with over 4,137 Palestinians and more than 1,400 people in Israel killed.
