Former Lt. Governor of Georgia Subpoenaed to Testify Before Grand‌ Jury

Former Lt. Governor⁢ of Georgia Geoff Duncan confirmed on‍ Saturday that he has been subpoenaed to testify before a Fulton County grand jury. ‌In a social ‍media​ post, he expressed his⁣ willingness to answer their ⁢questions regarding the⁤ 2020 election. Duncan emphasized ⁢that Republicans should never ​mistake honesty for weakness.

Mr. Duncan has not provided‍ further details⁤ about the subpoena. The Epoch Times has reached out​ to the Trump campaign​ for comment.

This development suggests ‍that Fulton ​County District Attorney Fani⁤ Willis is nearing the end of her investigation into former President⁢ Donald Trump’s efforts ​to challenge the reported ballot​ counts in the⁣ 2020 presidential election. Willis’s⁢ office has⁢ been working on the case for ⁤two​ and a half years.

Willis previously stated‍ that she would ‍make “big decisions” about ⁣the election probe before​ September. She remains committed to fulfilling this promise‌ and stated that the work ‌is already⁤ accomplished.

Trump’s Legal Battles Amid Reelection Bid

President Trump is currently campaigning⁢ for a⁤ return to the White House.⁤ However, he faces several criminal ⁢cases‍ that​ were not present during his 2016 campaign. In addition to the Fulton County‌ investigation, Trump has been charged in ⁢three other criminal cases:‌ the hush money case in New York‌ County, the Mar-a-Lago documents case in Florida,⁢ and the Jan. ‍6 election case‍ in the District of Columbia.

The trials ⁢for the ‍Mar-a-Lago documents case are scheduled to begin as ‌early as ‍May 20‍ next year, with a pretrial⁤ hearing on⁣ May 14. The hush money case will ⁤commence‌ on March 25, 2024, ‌in the⁢ New York state ‍court.⁢ The start date for⁤ the Jan. 6 election case is yet ⁤to ​be ⁢determined, although Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office has requested it to begin as early as Jan. ⁢2 next year.

Furthermore, two civil lawsuits against President Trump​ are set to go to⁢ trial in ‍the coming months. In October, New York Attorney General Letitia James will pursue a suit alleging fraudulent misstatement‍ of asset ‍values. In January, a second trial involving writer E. Jean Carroll’s defamation claim will take place, stemming from her​ allegations of sexual assault by Trump ​in​ the mid-1990s.

Judge Issues Gag Order

U.S. District‌ Judge ​for the District⁣ of Columbia Tanya Chutkan ⁣recently opposed prosecutors’ request to prevent former President Donald Trump from revealing non-sensitive evidence provided to him ahead of ‌the trial⁤ on whether he conspired to obstruct the counting ⁢of the ‍2020 electoral‌ votes. Instead, she issued ⁣a restricted gag order that only prohibits⁢ the⁤ release of ​information⁣ labeled as sensitive ‌by prosecutors.

Under this gag order, both parties must seek court authorization to ⁤release ‍sensitive information in an unredacted manner in court or public ​filings.
