Poll: Female GOP voters favor Trump over DeSantis

Survey Shows Majority of Female Republican Voters Prefer Trump Over DeSantis

According to a recent survey, approximately 5 out of 6 female Republican voters do not want Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) to become the next president. The poll, conducted by the Economist and YouGov, revealed some interesting insights into the preferences of Republican voters for the 2024 presidential primary.

Trump Leads the Pack

The survey found that 54% of respondents would prefer former President Donald Trump as their candidate, compared to DeSantis’s 16%. Former Vice President Mike Pence came in third place with 6% support. These numbers clearly indicate that Trump remains a popular choice among Republican voters.

“Trump fares better — and DeSantis fares worse — among women in this group of registered Republicans and Republican leaners,” the polling memo stated. “Trump performs better among people in this group without a college degree and DeSantis among people with one.”

Interestingly, the survey also revealed that Trump holds a 51% to 20% lead over DeSantis across all demographics, while the other GOP candidates are stuck in single digits. This further solidifies Trump’s position as the top choice among Republican voters.

Uncertainty Remains

Despite the clear preference for Trump, 11% of Republican and Republican-leaning voters, both male and female, remain unsure about who they would vote for in a hypothetical primary. This uncertainty leaves room for potential shifts in support as the 2024 election approaches.

It is worth noting that Trump’s favorability among women seems to have risen since a previous poll conducted in February. The NPR-PBS NewsHour-Marist poll showed that 40% of Republican and Republican-leaning women would support Trump for the 2024 GOP ticket. This suggests that Trump’s appeal among female Republican voters is growing.

Overall, this survey provides valuable insights into the preferences of female Republican voters and highlights Trump’s continued popularity within the party.
