European Soccer Fans Are Falling In Love With American Culture

European visitors attending the 2026 World Cup in the United States are showcasing their positive experiences and admiration for American culture. Many are exploring unconventional landmarks like Buc-ees, Bass Pro Shops, Waffle House, and attending Major League Baseball games, rather than typical tourist spots. These fans are highlighting aspects of American life, from late-night Waffle House meals to the tradition of national anthem flyovers, and expressing captivation with American food, especially steaks and chicken fried steak. Some have even engaged with American politics or culture, such as tweeting at political figures or participating in local events like rodeos in Fort Worth, Texas. Additionally, they are meeting police, cheering for the US soccer team despite being fans of other nations, and discovering everyday American experiences like Walmart shopping. Their positive comments serve as a counter-narrative to anti-American sentiments, emphasizing the warmth and richness of American culture, especially as the contry celebrates its 250th anniversary.

Europeans visiting the United States for the World Cup are traveling across the country, leaving many of them awestruck at American culture. Not only are they happy to be here, but many are visiting our best attractions — Buc-ees, Bass Pro Shops, Waffle House, and even Major League Baseball games — rather than the typical tourist destinations.

Anti-Americanism has run rampant in the United States in recent years. These European fans show the world that America and its citizens are more than the propaganda pushed by the corporate media.

Many of them have taken to the internet to show what they’ve found on their visit to the United States. This list compiles some of the best posts from these soccer fans.

1. Freddy visits Bass Pro Shops

We found another surreal place on our way. I know some people will say I’m too positive about everything I see, but this place was crazy. They had a shooting range in the store. pic.twitter.com/dBkEDzmRKo

Freddy may be the most famous of the European visitors, and for good reason. He’s from Germany and has been touring around the American South. Ever since his plane landed over a week ago, he’s been documenting his experiences learning about America and American culture. Since his account blew up online, football player J.J. Watt sent him to a luxury hotel and bought him gifts.

2. Waffle House at 1 a.m.

Just had our first Waffle House experience at 1am. Great food, great prices, and friendly staff. 10/10, we will be coming back.😋 pic.twitter.com/QHgftpqfoX

Freddy’s journey resonates because it’s immersive. On his trip, he’s had the quintessential American experience — a late-night meal at Waffle House.

3. “Scones and Mushrooms”

Wrong name, but he’s got the right spirit.

4. Steak for breakfast

In America, you can get almost anything for breakfast if you try hard enough.

5. More steak fascination

Every Scottish person in America needs to immediately try Chicken Fried Steak, and you’ll realise we and the Americans are kindred spirits pic.twitter.com/A9H5N1LHD7

— Shaun 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸 (@shaunvlog_) June 11, 2026

Steak in the United States is real and easy to find. Compare that with the European Union (EU), which has been cracking down on meat production in the name of environmentalism. Scientific advisors to the EU urged governments to disincentivize eating meat and cut “environmentally harmful” agriculture subsidies.

6. Tweeting at Ron DeSantis

Hey Ron, buddy, if you are going to Scotland v Brazil in Miami on the 24th, and wouldn’t mind a couple of Scottish/Brazilian experts join you, let my people know 😅🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇧🇷 https://t.co/tWRZ6set5H

7. National Anthem flyovers

First time experiencing this flyover Americans do before big sporting events and I have to say it goes kinda hard pic.twitter.com/WXZ6Vk5i1W

— 𝗙𝗜𝗔𝗚𝗢 🇩🇪 (@fiago7) June 9, 2026

It’s great watching the European mind finally begin to comprehend.

8. Cheering for the USA

The Europeans may be following our soccer team more than us. And they loved the country so much they decided to cheer for the USA!

9. Walmart exploration

I wish we could all feel this way when we entered Walmart.

10. Australians finding Outback Steakhouse.

It may not be the most authentic Australian cuisine, but our visitors weren’t complaining.

11. Rodeo

Česká reprezentace, která během základní skupiny pobývá v texaském městě Fort Worth, přijala pozvání městské samosprávy k návštěvě místní čtvrti Stockyards. 🇺🇸

Český tým navštívil také tradiční rodeo. Čtvrť Stockyards hrdě odkazuje na místní tradici kovbojství a Divokého západu.… pic.twitter.com/qNsMPg12GQ

— Česká fotbalová reprezentace (@ceskarepre_cz) June 14, 2026

The city of Fort Worth, Texas, invited the Czech national team to visit the Stockyards district. While there, the team visited a traditional rodeo.

12. Embracing Midwestern culture

The #Argentina national team chefs were barbecuing at the team hotel near Kansas City’s riverfront when tornado sirens started going off and a severe storm rolled through😳 pic.twitter.com/gDcQhPLAGY

— Eric Graves (@EricGravesKMBC) June 14, 2026

There’s nothing like continuing a barbecue in the middle of a storm. The Argentina national team is getting the true American experience.

13. Scotland fans meet the police

— Scottish Football Away Days (@scotsawaydays) June 14, 2026

While some Americans protest against police and federal law enforcement, Scotland fans are posing for photos with them.

It’s wonderful to see non-Americans experiencing the best of this country and loving their time here. With America’s 250th anniversary on the horizon, these Europeans remind us how lucky we are to be here.
