Relative of Uvalde Mass Shooter Detained for Threatening School Shooting
Teenager Arrested for Threats Against Local School
A shocking incident unfolded in San Antonio when a 17-year-old boy, who is reportedly the cousin of the Uvalde, Texas, teenage school shooter, was arrested after his mother reported his plans to carry out a school shooting. This comes just months after the tragic incident at Robb Elementary, where 19 students and two teachers lost their lives in May 2022.
Court documents reveal that the mother, alarmed by her son’s behavior, informed authorities that he was on probation and intoxicated when he made the threats. She overheard him attempting to illegally purchase an AR-15, expressing his intention to “do the same thing” as the Uvalde school shooter. The gravity of the situation became even more apparent when the teenager’s sister disclosed that he had boasted about his plans to harm the school. In fact, he even threatened to shoot his sister in the head. The family resides near an elementary school, heightening concerns.
Edgewood Independent School District Responds
“Edgewood ISD has been made aware that a teenager is now in police custody, accused of making a threat against a school on the city’s west side. Edgewood ISD is committed to the safety and security of all students, faculty, and staff. Each campus has an assigned Safety Officer. We encourage everyone to report any suspicious activity; if you see something, say something.”
The cousin was swiftly booked into the Bexar County Jail on Monday afternoon, ensuring that immediate action was taken to prevent any potential harm.
The aftermath of the Robb Elementary shooting has had far-reaching consequences. The Uvalde school board voted to terminate police chief Pete Arredondo, and the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District has recommended his dismissal as well.
Disturbing details emerged regarding the police response to the shooting. Despite approximately 400 law enforcement officers being present at the scene, the shooter managed to remain in the classroom for a staggering 77 minutes before officers finally breached the door and neutralized him. Footage from the school’s hallway revealed the agonizing wait as officers stood outside the classroom for over an hour, while victims inside desperately called 911 for help.
