Police officer fired for fleeing sheriff after being stopped for speeding.

Orlando Police Officer Caught Speeding and Fleeing from Law Enforcement

A police officer with the Orlando Police Department has been relieved of duty after a shocking incident unfolded. Officer Alexander Shaouni was caught speeding at an alarming rate of approximately 40 mph over the speed limit while on his way to work. To make matters worse, he then attempted to evade law enforcement after being pulled over.

It all started when a Seminole County sheriff’s deputy noticed Shaouni driving his police cruiser at a staggering 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. Concerned for public safety, the deputy decided to intervene and pull him over.

“What?” a combative Officer Shaouni is seen on body camera asking the sheriff’s deputy. “I am going into work, my man. Why are you trying to pull me over as I’m going into work?”

The sheriff’s deputy calmly responded, “Because you’re going 80 in a 45.”

“What does it look like I am dressed for?” Shaouni continued. “What does it look like I am dressed for?”

Despite the deputy’s request to see his driver’s license, Shaouni refused, turned his back on the deputy, and defiantly returned to his police cruiser, speeding away from the scene.

Local media later reported that Shaouni was apprehended and now faces charges of reckless driving, resisting an officer, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.

Immediate Action Taken by the Orlando Police Department

The Orlando Police Department wasted no time in addressing this serious incident. Upon being notified by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the department launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

“The Orlando Police Department was notified by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, June 9th that OPD Officer Alexander Shaouni was involved in an incident that occurred in Seminole County that resulted in criminal charges,” the department stated. “Officer Shaouni has been relieved of duty pending the Seminole County Sheriff’s criminal investigation and OPD’s Internal Affairs investigation.”

This incident serves as a reminder that no one is above the law, not even those entrusted with upholding it. The Orlando Police Department remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accountability within its ranks.
