Californian activists refuse reparations proposal, request over $1.2M per individual.

California Reparations Task Force Faces Outrage from Far-Left Activists

Activists Demand Even Higher Reparations Payments

According to Fox News, far-left activists in California are outraged by the state’s reparations task force’s proposed payments, claiming that they are still not enough. At a recent task force meeting, activist Tony Pierce demanded “$200 million for each and every African American,” while another speaker insisted that payments “should be starting at” $5 million.

Task Force’s Draft Plan Offers Up to $1.2 Million for Some Black Residents

The task force’s draft plan, released last week, proposes payments of “up to $1.2 million for some longtime black residents,” as compensation for a range of alleged harms, from slavery to pollution, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon. However, the task force has released multiple proposals that are considered ludicrously expensive, even as California faces a budget deficit of at least $23 billion. The panel must send its final recommendations to the State Legislature by July 1.

Activists Demand More, Despite the Plan’s High Cost

Despite the high cost of the task force’s proposals, activists at the recent meeting insisted that the payments are still not enough. Pierce, who “shouted most of his remarks,” criticized the task force for not being ambitious enough and warned, “Tell Governor Newsom we’re coming,” according to Fox News.

  • The task force has not addressed the financial feasibility of any of its proposals
  • Economists advising the panel have said the plan will cost state taxpayers at least $800 billion

Despite the high cost and lack of financial feasibility, the activists are demanding even more from the task force. It remains to be seen what the final recommendations will be and how the State Legislature will respond.
