Bowman urges Biden to show ‘leadership’ on New York’s immigrant overflow.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman Calls for ⁣Leadership from President Biden on ‌Immigration ⁤Crisis

During a press conference, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) emphasized the urgent need for President Joe Biden to demonstrate strong leadership as immigrants continue to arrive in New York from the southern border. Bowman⁢ highlighted the struggles‌ faced by the state in providing resources to immigrants⁤ and ‌called for assistance from the White House.

“I mean, we need ⁤leadership⁤ from President Biden — period. We ⁤need that leadership in New York state because ‌New York state is struggling. We’re struggling to provide housing and⁢ all the support that the‍ migrants need,”

Bowman also expressed concern about the potential impact of the immigration crisis on the upcoming House elections ⁢in New York. He stressed the importance‍ of Democrats ⁢performing well in the ‌state, as they need to secure at least four congressional seats to regain control of the House.

“Here’s the thing — Democrats are looking bad ⁤right ⁤now in New York state and that’s unacceptable when we have to ⁤win at least four congressional seats to take back the House, so hopefully ‍the ‍president is⁢ listening,”

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has identified ⁢six Republican members of the House from New York⁣ as targets in the 2024 elections. These include Reps. Nick LaLota (R-NY), George Santos (R-NY), Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY), Mike ‌Lawler (R-NY), Marc Molinaro (R-NY), and Brandon Williams (R-NY). The GOP’s strong ⁤performance in House races in New⁣ York in 2022 played a significant role in the party’s successful bid to regain control of the lower ‌chamber‌ of Congress, despite underperforming in other key ‍races across the country.
