Bill Cosby Faces New Lawsuit Alleging Rape in 1972
A new lawsuit has been filed against comedian and actor Bill Cosby by a woman who claims he raped her in 1972.
The suit, filed by New Mexico resident Donna Motsinger, alleges that Cosby lured and groomed her for the assault. The lawsuit also names the production firm Jemmin Inc. and the Circle Star Theater Corp. as defendants.
According to the lawsuit, Motsinger and Cosby met at a Sausalito restaurant where she was working. Cosby would visit the restaurant every day and developed a relationship with Motsinger. He even called her son from the payphone inside the restaurant to gain her trust.
On the night of the alleged assault, Cosby followed Motsinger to her home and invited her to a show he was performing at the Circle Star Theater. He picked her up in a limousine and gave her a glass of wine, which she believes was drugged. Motsinger recalls going in and out of consciousness and waking up in her house with her clothes removed.
The lawsuit argues that Cosby has a history of preying upon women and accuses businesses like the Circle Star Theater Corp. and Jemmin Inc. of failing to protect their guests from sexual assault.
The suit seeks unspecified damages.
Attorney Jesse Creed, representing Motsinger, claims that companies and organizations provided a platform for Cosby to lure women and prioritized their own profits over the safety of their female guests.
This is not the first time Cosby has faced allegations of sexual assault. He has been accused by more than 60 women and spent time in prison before his conviction was overturned.
While Cosby’s legal team has not responded to this latest lawsuit, he has consistently denied all allegations against him.
