Illegal Alien Accused of Murdering Five Neighbors Apprehended After Dayslong Manhunt
The small Texas town of Cut and Shoot, with a population of just over 1,000 people, was the site of the arrest of an illegal alien accused of murdering five of his neighbors. The suspect had been on the run for days, with hundreds of law enforcement officials involved in the manhunt.
The Daily Wire previously published the suspect’s name and photo, but following his arrest, the company’s policy about depriving mass killers of notoriety means that his name and photo will no longer be used.
The Tragic Events
The suspect allegedly shot five of his neighbors in the head after they asked him to stop shooting his rifle because they had a baby inside their home who was sleeping. The father of the child said in an interview, “I never thought that he would shoot. He went room to room, looking for people.”
The victims have been identified as Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; Julisa Molina Rivera, 31; Jonathan Casarez, 18; and Daniel Enrique Laso, 8.
The Suspect’s Background
The suspect, who is a Mexican national, was unlawfully in the U.S. and had been deported several times in the past, ranging from 2009 through 2016.
Reward for Information
Texas Governor Greg Abbott offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the suspect, which came after San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said his office was offering a $55,000 reward and the FBI announced that it was contributing $25,000 to the reward.
“Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the five victims that were taken in this senseless act of violence,” Abbott said earlier in making the announcement. “I continue working with state and local officials to ensure they have all available resources to respond to this horrific crime. I thank the men and women in law enforcement who are tirelessly working to ensure this criminal is caught and brought to justice.”
