An arrest warrant was issued for Pennsylvania state Rep. Kevin Boyle, according to multiple reports, with the Democratic lawmaker having been in trouble with the law previously.

On Tuesday, an arrest warrant was issued for Boyle for allegedly violating a protection from abuse order, a Philadelphia Police spokesperson told NBC 10 Philadelphia News without giving specifics.

“We can confirm an arrest warrant has been issued for violating a PFA. However, the specifics of the PFA we cannot get into,” the spokesperson said.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Boyle for comment.

His colleagues expressed concern for the representative, with some expressing hope that he would receive help.

“I love Kevin, but I have serious concerns about his mental health and it breaks my heart to see him this way. I hope he gets the help he needs,” Democratic House Majority Leader Matt Bradford said in a statement.

The arrest warrant isn’t the first time Boyle has faced trouble with the law. In 2021, he was arrested and charged with harassment and violation of a protection from abuse order his wife had filed. The Pennsylvania Democrat’s attorney, R. Emmett Madden, said at the time that he was cooperating with law enforcement and would receive a mental health evaluation.

“It is important to note that Kevin Boyle is not accused of any act of violence. By agreement with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Kevin is scheduled for a mental health evaluation,” Madden said. “He intends to follow through with all court, mental health and medical recommendations, including treatment. We are confident that with treatment, Kevin can return to full health, resolve these charges, and continue serving his constituents.”

More recently, Boyle went viral in February after being caught on video berating employees at Gaul & Co. Malt House in Rockledge, Pennsylvania, and refusing to leave. During the incident, he threatened to use his position to close the bar. He was later banned from the establishment.

Boyle was elected to the state House in 2010 and represents parts of northeastern Philadelphia.
