Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) says she hasn’t “ruled out the possibility” of a 2028 presidential bid as a new poll shows the progressive lawmaker gaining ground among Democratic voters in New Hampshire.

“I haven’t ruled out the possibility,” Ocasio-Cortez said on ABC News’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos Sunday, adding that she was “very humbled” by the “tremendous amount of support” she has received.

Her comments come as Ocasio-Cortez leads a crowded field of potential Democratic presidential contenders in a recent Granite State Poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center. The poll found that 22% of likely Democratic primary voters would support Ocasio-Cortez, narrowly ahead of Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at 21%.

Ocasio-Cortez’s support has increased seven percentage points since February, while support for Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) fell seven points, and Former Vice President Kamala Harris dropped five points.

Despite the attention surrounding her potential 2028 ambitions, Ocasio-Cortez emphasized the 2026 midterm elections rather than her own political future.

“I think that we have a responsibility to remain focused on the midterms and not on our individual aspirations or plans,” she said.

The latest New Hampshire poll suggests Ocasio-Cortez has emerged as an early favorite among the party’s progressive and socialist voters, with supporters frequently citing her policies and political ideology.
