Alan Dershowitz to sit for House oversight interview on Epstein
Harvard Law Professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz is scheduled too participate in a transcribed interview before the House Oversight Commitee regarding his alleged ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The interview, set for July 20, was requested by Committee Chairman James Comer, who previously invited Dershowitz to testify about Epstein’s files. Dershowitz has indicated he is willing to testify “about everything” related to epstein, perhaps in a public videotaped session, though no official date has been confirmed.
Previously, Dershowitz served as Epstein’s attorney and helped negotiate a 2008 plea deal for Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting federal sex trafficking charges. Dershowitz faced accusations from Epstein’s victim Virginia Giuffre, who later retracted her claims; Dershowitz denies any wrongdoing.
Dershowitz has stated he has nothing to hide and insists he has done nothing wrong. The house committee has also scheduled interviews with other prominent figures connected to Epstein, including Leon Black, Doug Band, Kathryn Ruemmler, and Jes Staley, as part of its inquiry into Epstein’s activities.

Earlier this month, House oversight committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) asked the esteemed lawyer to appear before the panel and testify on the Epstein files. The chairman’s letter requested Dershowitz’s attendance for a transcribed interview on July 9.
The latest news suggests Dershowitz agreed to participate in the interview, but at a later date. He previously told Harvard’s student newspaper that he would be away on July 9.
Dershowitz previously said he was willing to testify “about everything” related to Epstein in a “videotaped, under oath and open to the public” interview, per Comer’s letter. The committee will release the transcript and video later, as has been the case for other witnesses who have testified on Epstein in recent months.
Dershowitz has not yet made a public statement confirming his attendance, nor has the House oversight committee announced the interview date.
Dershowitz previously served as Epstein’s attorney and helped negotiate a 2008 plea deal that let his client plead guilty to lesser charges in Florida rather than federal sex trafficking charges. Epstein died in August 2019 while awaiting federal trial on sex trafficking charges. One month before Epstein’s death, Dershowitz said he had no current legal or personal relationship with the disgraced financier.
Virginia Giuffre, the late Epstein victim, once accused Dershowitz of sexually abusing her before retracting her claim in 2022. She died by suicide last year. Dershowitz denied the sexual assault allegations and was never charged with wrongdoing related to Epstein.

“I have nothing to hide,” he told the Harvard Crimson in a recent interview. “I did nothing wrong. I have never touched another woman, or even flirting. I don’t do that.”
Besides Dershowitz, the House oversight committee has reportedly scheduled Epstein-related interviews with private equity investor Leon Black on June 26, former Clinton adviser Doug Band on June 30, top Goldman Sachs lawyer Kathryn Ruemmler on July 15, and former Barclays CEO Jes Staley on July 23.
