PBS prefers Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans, 4-to-1
A recent analysis by the Media Research Center has revealed that PBS’s “NewsHour” show heavily favors liberal perspectives, with a ratio of 4.2-to-1 in favor of liberal-Democratic guests compared to conservative-Republican guests. The report highlights that out of 214 total guest appearances, 173 leaned liberal while only 41 leaned conservative. Moreover, a notable number of the Republican guests featured as the inauguration of President Joe Biden have expressed anti-Trump sentiments. This perceived bias may explain why some Republicans are advocating for the defunding of PBS and National Public Radio (NPR). The analysis criticizes PBS’s commitment to balance and objectivity, suggesting its lineup is dominated by liberal voices, which contradicts its mandate as a tax-funded network. in response to these concerns, former President Trump signed an executive order to ban federal funding for perceived liberal networks, leading to potential legal challenges from these organizations.
PBS prefers Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans, 4-to-1
If the taxpayer-subsidized Public Broadcasting Service wants to know what’s behind the ire of Republicans and the MAGA movement, it only has to look at its daily lineup of guests.
That would show the liberal outlet’s NewsHour show favors liberals by about 4-to-1.
And of the Republicans it features in its news, many are critics of President Donald Trump.
According to a new analysis of guests on NewsHour by the watchdog Media Research Center, “liberal-Democratic leaning guests outnumbered conservative-Republican leaning guests by 173-41, a ratio of 4.2-to-1.”
That rate is higher than when former President Joe Biden was in office.
Also, the MRC analysis said, nearly half of the Republican officials giving their views on the show since Inauguration Day were anti-Trump. Meanwhile, “of 24 total appearances by Democratic officials, none were pro-Trump.”

The new report offered a view on why Republicans are eager to end taxpayer support for PBS and National Public Radio. It said, “As demonstrated, the NewsHour guest list was dominated by radical professors, disgruntled Democratic bureaucrats, and legacy media liberals — an unwise stance for a tax-funded network that operates (for now) under a congressional mandate to maintain ‘strict adherence to objectivity and balance in all programs or series of programs of a controversial nature.’”
Trump recently signed an executive order to ban federal funds from the liberal networks because of their bias against Republicans. The networks have since sued to keep the cash flow open.
