HBO Host Bill Maher Slams Hypocrisy ⁢of “Woke” Cities on Immigration

HBO host Bill Maher, a self-proclaimed “old-school liberal,”⁣ is⁣ calling⁤ out progressive leaders​ of “woke” cities, including New York City, for their hypocrisy in complaining about the ⁤influx of asylum seekers.

“Could everybody just stop the posturing?” Maher questions in his “Club Random” podcast. He criticizes⁣ sanctuary cities for welcoming migrants but⁤ panicking when they actually arrive from overwhelmed border states.

Maher doesn’t hold back, stating,‌ “Don’t pretend that you love migrants so much ​and then when [border states] send them to you, you don’t like ⁢them. You know — you’re‌ full of s*** and we can see that.”

He ⁢points out the irony of these cities embracing migrants when it’s not their problem, but then complaining when they arrive in places like Chicago and New York. Maher believes ‍this crisis exposes policies that contradict the true essence of liberalism.

The Clash Between Liberalism and⁣ the Woke Mentality

Maher highlights the disparity between liberalism, which seeks humane solutions to move people off the streets, and ​the woke mentality, ‍which resists any measure to relocate them, asserting that the streets are their homes.

“Liberalism is ‘For the sake⁢ of humanity⁢ and compassion, can ⁤we‌ get these people off the streets?’ And woke is, ‘How dare you ask them to move! This is their home.’ No, it’s not!”

He believes⁢ there must ‍be a better solution than simply putting the unhoused in hotels. Maher suggests ‌considering alternatives like barracks, which he believes are more cost-effective.

Mayor ⁢Eric Adams⁤ of New ‌York City recently warned that‍ the migrant crisis would ‍impact neighborhoods as the‌ city struggles to accommodate approximately 91,000 new arrivals from the border.

Earlier this⁤ year, Adams accused Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of targeting black-run cities with migrant buses, calling it “morally bankrupt” and racially motivated.

Maher’s Disappointment with ‌President Biden

In‍ Sunday’s episode, Maher expressed his disappointment with President Biden’s lack of competency, particularly in handling‍ the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the border situation.

“The competency worries me ⁣more than ideology. Like ⁢it makes me ‌think no matter what politics you people ⁣are, you’re the same person who can’t get anything done,” Maher said.

Despite ⁣his criticism, Maher stated that he would still support President Biden in a rematch against former President Donald Trump in 2024.
