“You Gotta Play”: Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards Calls Out NBA Players Who Sit Out Regular Season Games

The reality is not just for NBA fans. Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ superstar, is also fed up with the situation.

Edwards was asked by reporters ahead of the NBA All-Star Game this weekend if he would like to see any changes in the league. The former Georgia Bulldog thought immediately about players who were unable to attend games.

“Probably just all the guys sitting, resting,” Edwards Explained. “That’s the only thing I probably don’t like. Just play, man. If you’re 80%, 70 – you gotta play. I don’t like all the sitting, missing games and stuff like that. These people might have enough money to come to one game, you know what I’m saying? That might be the game they come to and then you’re sitting out.”

“I take pride in trying to play every game because you never know if there’s one fan that might never seen me play and I’m trying to play.”

Load Management in the league has become an extremely serious problem that shows no sign of abating.

Star players are often absent from regular season games. The absences of these superstars are not usually announced until close to tip-off. This, Edwards said, leads to a poor fan experience.

To get players onto the floor, there is only one rule: nationally televised games. They will be fined $100,000 if healthy players miss nationally televised regular season games.
