Yes, Kids Need Celebs Like Ja Morant To Be Good Role Models, But Fathers Matter Much More

Ja Morant, an NBA basketball player, made headlines after posting a video on Instagram Live where he was seen with a gun at a strip club, resulting in his suspension. While it is understandable to expect professional athletes to be positive role models, instead of criticizing Ja, we should be praying for his father.

The importance of strong father figures in a child’s life cannot be overemphasized. They serve as mentors, teaching children important values such as faith, character, and work ethic.

Children should not solely rely on celebrities or movie stars for personal development. Celebrities may serve as inspiration, but they cannot replace the guidance of a supportive parent, especially a father.

We need to encourage fathers to be involved in their children’s lives more than ever. With the rise of fatherlessness in society, American children are struggling since fathers play an essential role in shaping their mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Studies have shown that children from single-parent families are more likely to suffer from mental health problems.

It is crucial to incentivize fathers to stay in their homes and actively participate in their children’s upbringing. Our culture should focus on promoting the nuclear family as the bedrock of society, and parents, especially fathers, should be encouraged to be positive role models.

Let us pray for the fathers of this generation, reminding ourselves of the Bible verse in Malachi 4:6: “And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.”
