Arkansas Man Shot While Attempting to Rob Woman and Children

An Arkansas man was left in critical condition after he was shot by the person he was allegedly attempting to rob.

Details of the Incident

Markevious King, 37, approached Eva Garmendia, 25, of Mississippi, as she was loading her vehicle at the Market Avenue parking deck on Memorial Day. According to police, King attacked the man who was with Garmendia and then punched her as she sat in the front passenger seat. Garmendia had two children in the backseat.

However, Garmendia was armed and shot King in the head and neck area, according to authorities. She subsequently called the police, and when they arrived, they found King collapsed just outside the car on the driver’s side. Arriving officers administered medical help.

Current Condition of the Suspect

King was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition while in custody, according to the department’s last update.
