Woman Sentenced To 10 Years For Smuggling Gun Into Prison Hidden In her Vagina

A Missouri woman who smuggled a gun into a county jail hidden in her vagina was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the stunt.

The Smoking Gun reported that Amy Wilhite, 39, had been arrested on February 14 for gun and drug charges. When she was booked into the Boone County jail in Columbia, Missouri, she passed an initial search by the Columbia Police Department, both during a pat down and strip search. Seventeen days into her sentence, jailers discovered the 4-inch, .22 caliber revolver that was loaded with five rounds and weighed just 4.6 ounces. The gun was discovered wrapped in plastic among Wilhite’s items in the jail.

Investigators allege Wilhite concealed the small weapon in her vagina to avoid detection but later “removed the firearm from her body and concealed it within her personal belongings.”

“During questioning at the jail, Wilhite admitted possessing the firearm, but claimed ‘she was only holding it for another female detainee.’ But fellow inmates in Wilhite’s housing unit ‘all stated Amy was in possession of the firearm,’” an investigator reported,” the outlet wrote. “In addition to copping to the gun smuggling charge, Wilhite pleaded guilty on April 19 to the felony drug and weapons counts for which she was originally arrested. She was ordered to serve five years on each conviction, with the sentences to run concurrently with the 10-year prison term.”

Not surprisingly, other women have smuggled items into prison in their vaginas as well. In 2013, an Oklahoma woman was sentenced to 25 years in state prison for concealing a loaded handgun in her vagina after being arrested on a drug charge, the Smoking Gun reported at the time.

“Christie Dawn Harris, 28, last week entered no contest pleas to three felony counts during a hearing in Pontotoc County District Court. Harris, whose rap sheet already includes multiple felony convictions, copped on June 27 to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, gun possession, and bringing contraband into jail,” the outlet reported.

Harris had been arrested after a drug dog alerted police to her vehicle, where police found meth, drug paraphernalia, a gun, and a loaded magazine. When she was being transported to the local jail, Harris told an officer “several times that she needed to go to the bathroom,” the police department reported.

Police found the gun sticking out of her vagina while being searched ahead of booking.

In 2014, 19-year-old Dallas Archer smuggled a small weapon into jail in her vagina after being arrested for driving with a suspended license, the Smoking Gun reported at the time. Jailers found an “unknown object” in the teen’s crotch while searching her and discovered the small revolver upon further examination. The concealed weapon was determined to have been stolen during an auto burglary in 2013 and belonged to a 70-year-old man.

In 2018, 27-year-old Anika Witt pleaded guilty to weapons possession after hiding a gun in her vagina when she was arrested.
