Reese, a former Louisiana State University Tigers player, posted the statement on social media Monday morning. However, she did not elaborate and say from what women in sports should be protected.

The post quickly went viral, getting over 3.4 million views by Monday afternoon. Among those praising Reese’s post was Outkick host and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines. Former Republican Rep. Mayra Flores, who is running for Congress again this year, also touted Reese’s words, saying, “This is the way.”

Reese’s post comes a few days after the Biden administration finalized its Title IX rules Friday, expanding the definition of sex to include transgender identities in the sexual harassment and discrimination portions of Title IX. An open rulemaking process will address concerns regarding transgender participation in sports. The rules related to sports are not likely to be completed until after the 2024 election.

Reese was selected to join the WNBA by the Chicago Sky last week after playing for LSU for two years, during which her team won the NCAA national championship in 2023 against the Iowa Hawkeyes with a score of 102-85.
Last week’s WNBA draft also saw Caitlin Clark join the Indiana Fever. She played with the Hawkeyes against LSU in the NCAA’s 2023 championship.
