‘Why is it every time they lose it’s election fraud’: Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of **teh View**, criticized President Donald Trump for storming off from his **Meet the Press** appearance on NBC after being confronted with election-fraud claims. She suggested the media conflict around him reflects a pattern where Trump alleges fraud when he loses and also claims fraud when he’s preceded by skepticism. goldberg also contrasted Trump’s behavior with upcoming election concerns, noting that similar allegations are being raised around **California’s** primary elections.

On the same segment, **Alyssa Farah Griffin** argued that Trump’s 2020-election rhetoric was treated differently by NBC’s **Kristen Welker**, saying Welker did not bring up the idea that the 2020 election was stolen, but Trump instead launched into the topic. Griffin also commented on **Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt**, saying LA’s heavily Democratic makeup made it unlikely for him to reach a runoff and that poor performance is not the same as election fraud.**Sunny Hostin** added that Republicans only grew critical of mail-in voting when Democrats began using it more.

The discussion followed reporting that Pratt fell behind **Councilwoman Nithya Raman** in the LA mayoral primary after late vote shifts, leaving Raman ahead by just over 3,100 votes as of Monday afternoon, threatening Pratt’s chances to advance to a runoff.

Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of The View, mocked criticism of President Donald Trump’s abrupt exit from a “Meet the Press” interview, quipping,  “Why is it every time they lose it’s election fraud?” in response to the president storming off from his Meet the Press interview.

“You-know-who … has had a contentious relationship with the media since he got into the White House, he used to love the media … but now it’s like a problem, and it was on full display yesterday during his interview with Meet the Press,” Goldberg said on The View’s “Hot Topics” segment on Monday.

Trump ended his interview with NBC while reiterating his claims that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and suggesting similar concerns were at play in California’s primary elections, pointing to Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt’s shrinking chances in the race.

“They all thought he was going to walk away with it, and it didn’t happen,” Goldberg said. “So why is it every time they lose it’s election fraud? And every time we win it’s election fraud? Why is it always fraud?”

On June 2, election night, Pratt led Councilwoman Nithya Raman by 40,000 votes; however, a late shift in vote totals on June 7 left Pratt behind Raman in the Los Angeles mayoral primary, jeopardizing his bid to advance to a runoff against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass.

“You don’t have a lot of Republicans screaming that the 2024 election was stolen because Donald Trump won,” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said. “[NBC journalist] Kristen Welker did such a phenomenal job there, and I would point out, she did not bring up the election in 2020 being stolen, the president launched into this tirade.”

“On the Spencer Pratt of it, I like Spencer Pratt — we had him here, he’s a nice enough guy. LA is 3-to-1 Democratic; Kamala Harris won it by 70%, it was going to be a victory if he even made it to the runoffs. That would’ve been like ‘Woah, he’s doing something incredible,’ that’s not fraud, that’s just how LA is,” Griffin said.

SPENCER PRATT FALLS BEHIND NITHYA RAMAN IN LA MAYORAL RACE AFTER LATEST VOTE UPDATE

As of Monday afternoon, LA County’s election results show that Raman now leads Pratt by over 3,100 votes.

“The only time Republicans started having a problem with mail-in voting was when Democrats started to use mail-in voting,” co-host Sunny Hostin said.
