Whitmer Mocks Communion With Blasphemous Dorito Ritual
In a recent video, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer seemingly mocked the Christian sacrament of communion by feeding a Dorito to a feminist influencer, Liz Plank, who was kneeling as if to receive the Eucharist. The controversial moment, which appeared on Instagram, featured Whitmer wearing a hat with the names of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The act has drawn criticism, especially from Christian circles that hold communion in high regard. Critics argue that this incident exemplifies Whitmer’s longstanding disdain for religious practices, as she has previously faced backlash for her comments and actions related to religion, such as sharing a prayer candle associated with political figures who support abortion rights. The article discusses the implications of Whitmer’s actions amidst her history of policies viewed as antithetical to religious freedom.
Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer apparently mocked the Christian rite of communion with a Dorito in a new video. If anyone doubted her contempt for religion, this just confirmed it.
A popular feminist influencer kneeled down, as if to take communion. A hand reached out and placed a Dorito in her mouth. When the camera panned over, it revealed none other than Michigan’s governor in a camo Harris-Walz hat. The bizarre video first appeared on Instagram today.
“If he won’t, Gretchen Whitmer will,” wrote influencer Liz Plank who goes by “feministabulous.”
Plank went on to praise the CHIPS Act, which ineffectively poured billions into domestic production of semiconductors, and claimed “Donald Trump would put that at risk.”
For Christians, communion is the sacred act of taking bread and wine, which Catholics believe become the real presence of Christ, his body and blood. Many Protestants believe Christ is spiritually present in communion, or that it symbolizes his death. Across all denominations, however, the rite carries deep spiritual significance.
But Whitmer has long made known her feelings toward religion. In 2021, Whitmer drew attention for posting a Stacey Abrams prayer candle on Twitter, now X. Abrams claimed faith motivates her to support murdering unborn babies.
Whitmer has consistently defended pornography in schools and pushed abortion across the state. And under her watch, a Detroit jury convicted seven pro-life demonstrators for allegedly violating the federal FACE Act, which the Department of Justice has weaponized to target the pro-life movement. The convicted included a preacher, a missionary, a former police officer, and a concentration camp survivor.
Republican state representatives unsuccessfully tried to impeach Whitmer in 2020 for her executive orders, which they said “restricted and effectively banned the free exercise of religion in the state of Michigan in violation of the First Amendment.”
