Biden misspoke about holding a rare press conference, says White House.

The White House Corrects Biden’s Press Conference Statement

President Joe Biden made a statement on Friday morning that he would hold a press conference in the afternoon. However, the White House quickly corrected him, stating that he was “referring to a previously announced interview” that would air on MSNBC at 10 p.m. that night.

A Rare Move for the President

Had Biden held a press conference, it would have been a rare move for him. He has held the fewest news conferences since former president Ronald Reagan and has granted less than a quarter as many interviews as Donald Trump did at the same point in his presidency.

  • The New York Post reported that as of mid-March, Biden had participated in 375 informal question-and-answer sessions.
  • However, these sessions are often extremely brief engagements that can feature as little as a single-word reply before the commander-in-chief walks away.

Friday was not the first time White House officials have walked back Biden’s comments. At least three times during his administration, the White House has contradicted Biden after he made statements regarding the United States’ commitment to defend Taiwan if China invades. Officials have insisted that the United States’ policy of ambiguity on that question remains unchanged.

Biden’s Limited Working Hours

White House officials have also stated that Biden’s working hours are limited. The “vast majority” of events he attends are between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and it’s difficult to schedule events with him in the morning, night, or on the weekend.

Despite these limitations, Biden continues to work diligently to fulfill his duties as president.
