White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre opened her Friday press briefing by alerting reporters that she would not be commenting in any form about the overnight strikes against Iranian military facilities.

Israel reportedly launched three targeted strikes early Friday morning that destroyed Iranian military equipment in an apparent retaliation for the 300 drones and missiles Iran launched at Israel last weekend. Israel, the United States, and other allies shot down 99% of those attacks, according to National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.

Despite her declaration at the top of the briefing, Jean-Pierre still faced several questions on the topic but declined to offer specifics in any shape or form.

“I’m not going to speak or speculate about any of the reports that are out there. I’m not going to comment. I’m just going to leave it there,” she repeated throughout the briefing when asked about the strikes. “I’m going to be disappointing many people here this afternoon. I just don’t have anything to share.”

Jean-Pierre additionally declined to comment on a report, citing Italian government officials, that claimed Israel gave the U.S. advance notice the strikes would take place.

Earlier in the day, Secretary of State Antony Blinken similarly declined to comment on the strikes beyond firmly stating that the “United States has not been involved in any offensive operations.”
