White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Defends President Biden’s Response to Maui Fires
In a press briefing on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre passionately defended President Joe Biden’s handling of the fires in Maui, claiming that he responded in “record time” despite facing criticism for his perceived lack of interest while on vacation.
A reporter questioned Jean-Pierre about the initial response to the Hawaii wildfires, suggesting that it may have been lacking due to the president’s absence. Jean-Pierre swiftly dismissed the premise of the question, stating, “If you talk to the governor of Hawaii, the senators of Hawaii, the folks on the ground, they would say that the biden-to-reboot-joe-bidens-image/” title=”White House Deploys Jill Biden to Reboot Joe Biden’s Image”>president reacted in record time when it came to dealing with the wildfires.”
She emphasized the presence of over 600 federal employees already on the ground in Maui, ready to assist with the firefighting efforts. Jean-Pierre urged the reporter to consult with local and state officials in Hawaii to gain a better understanding of the situation.
