‘What If?’: Republicans Release Dark AI-Generated Vision of Biden’s America Post-2024

President Joe Biden has announced his reelection bid, but the GOP is already trying to scare voters with an AI-generated video depicting a dystopian future under a second Biden term. The ad shows China invading Taiwan, banks collapsing, border migrant surges, and authorities closing San Francisco due to crime. The text on the screen asks viewers to consider “what if” a series of frightful events might occur if Biden gets a second term. It’s fear-mongering at its worst.

But Biden is fighting back with a message of hope and democracy. In his reelection campaign video, he frames his campaign as a fight for freedom and democracy, saying America “needs to get the job done.” The video shows footage of the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021, and demonstrations after the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

However, Biden faces historically low support for reelection from within his own party. Just 38 percent of Democrats said the party should nominate Biden for reelection, while 57 percent want to find someone else. This is in stark contrast to both Donald Trump and Barack Obama, who garnered more than 70 percent of their own party’s support for a second term.

Moreover, the 80-year-old president faces mounting issues in his quest for four more years. Federal investigations into his son Hunter, who an IRS whistleblower said is receiving “preferential treatment,” have raised questions among voters about the family’s ethics.

Despite these challenges, Biden has selected Julie Chavez Rodriguez to run his campaign. Rodriguez’s experience includes helping run Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed 2020 presidential campaign. It remains to be seen whether Biden can overcome the obstacles and win a second term.
