Actress Lori Loughlin talked about overcoming “obstacles” in her first major interview since she served time behind bars for her part in the college admissions scheme in 2020.
In the latest issue of First For Women magazine, the 59-year-old actress opened up about persevering after hard times four years after she pled guilty for her part in the Varsity Blues college admission scandal along with her husband Mossimo Giannulli.
“Every day we’re met with different obstacles, but it’s all in how you approach things,” Loughlin said. “For me, it’s just persevering and as an actress, I hear ‘no’ a lot, so I just have to be myself and persevere and try not to let in negativity.”
“My advice is to just keep moving forward,” she added. “Everyone has good times and bad times. That’s life. I think you just have to pick yourself up. Nobody said life was going to be a breeze. There’s beauty in life, but there’s also hardship in life.”

“Stuff happens to everyone. … I didn’t grow up in a household where if you made a mistake, you weren’t forgiven,” Loughlin continued. “No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. So I was always told to let stuff go. And I think for your own health, you have to let things go because you can’t hang on to negativity. Life’s too short.”
In May of 2020, Loughlin and Giannulli pled guilty to a variety of conspiracy charges after paying $500,000 to get their two daughters, Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade, into the University of Southern California as phony rowing recruits.
The “Every Christmas Has A Story” star served two months in prison, while her husband got five months behind bars. Loughlin was released in December 2020, but Giannulli remained behind bars. Giannulli was then released early on April 2, 2021, and served the remainder of his sentence at home.

In January 2023, Loughlin appeared in her first TV movie role following prison time in the Great American Family’s (GAF) original film “Fall Into Winter.”
Loughlin’s post-prison comeback became official after she appeared in another movie for the GAF Network called “A Christmas Blessing,” which aired in November that year.
