Pro-Palestinian protesters breach US military supply ship, suspecting it’s bound for Israel.
Pro-Palestinian Protesters Block US Military Supply Ship at Oakland Port
A U.S. military supply ship was forcefully prevented from leaving an Oakland, California, port on Friday by passionate pro-Palestinian protesters who believed the ship was about to transport military equipment to Israel.
The protesters took bold action by locking themselves to the carrier Cape Orlando, which they claimed was going to deliver weapons to Israel after loading up in Tacoma, Washington, according to KPIX-TV.
Not only did the demonstrators block the entrance to the berth where the ship was docked, but three others also defiantly clung to a rope ladder, refusing to let workers close a door to the ship, as reported by KPIX.
The protest began before dawn with approximately 50 demonstrators, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, and quickly grew to around 200.
With fervor, the activists chanted powerful slogans such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and “Hey, hey, ho, ho, the occupation has got to go,” as they passionately called for a cease-fire in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
Meena Abushamala, one of the protesters, expressed her rage, stating, “I am enraged that our taxpayer dollars are funding this genocide and the continued ethnic cleansing of our people.”
In the afternoon, around 3 p.m., authorities managed to remove the three protesters clinging to the rope ladder, and the ship was finally able to depart from the port.
The San Francisco-based Arab Resource Organizing Center, the organizer of the demonstration, confirmed that the three protesters were detained by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Petty Officer Hunter Schnabel stated that “multiple individuals are currently under investigation,” but provided no further details.
According to the Chronicle, the Cape Orlando, which was built in 1981 and became part of the U.S. Ready Reserve fleet in 1994, had previously been utilized in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Lara Kiswani, the executive director of the AROC, expressed her certainty that the ship was carrying weapons to Israel and demanded that Oakland’s leaders take action to “stop this genocide.”
However, neither KPIX nor the Chronicle could confirm whether the vessel was indeed headed to Israel.
As of Saturday evening, a ship tracking website showed the Cape Orlando off the Northern California coast, following a northwest course.
A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:
What if you woke up one morning and half of the people you count on had just vanished overnight?
That happened to me recently. I got up, came to work here at The Western Journal, and when I got to my office, literally half of our readers had vanished. They were just gone. We had been nuked by Facebook, and it had happened almost instantly.
But it was even worse. Facebook hit us at the same time 90 percent of advertisers had essentially boycotted us. “Brutal” is a word I’ve used a lot lately.
The fight for the truth is brutal. The fight for America’s soul is brutal. What the government is doing to Jan. 6 detainees is brutal. What surgeons are doing to confused children is brutal.
It’s a fight we must win. But we can’t win without you.
A membership to The Western Journal will go much farther than you think. It costs less than a cup of Starbucks coffee, and for that small price you get access to ALL of our content — news, commentary, and premium articles — you’ll experience a radically reduced number of ads, and most importantly you will be vitally supporting the fight against leftism.
Can I count on you to join today? We need your help. Benjamin Franklin summed up the situation we’re all facing when he said, “We must all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”
We plan to hang in and fight. Please help us. Please become a member today.
Sincerely,

How did the existential threat to the business affect the PAA?
Severe understatement. We were facing an existential threat to our business, and I feared that we may not survive.
But here we are, despite the odds, still standing.
And we’re still standing because of you. Our loyal readers, our supporters, our community. It is because of your unwavering belief in the truth and your commitment to seeking out alternative sources of information that we are able to continue.
So, thank you. Thank you for standing with us in the face of adversity. Thank you for refusing to be silenced. Thank you for supporting independent journalism. We are eternally grateful for your support and we will continue to fight for the truth, no matter the challenges that lie ahead.
Together, we will overcome.
The protest at the Oakland port, led by pro-Palestinian activists, has once again brought attention to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The demonstration, which saw passionate protesters blockade a U.S. military supply ship, highlights the strong support for Palestine in certain communities.
The activists, who believed that the ship was about to deliver weapons to Israel, took bold action by locking themselves to the carrier and refusing to let workers close a door to the ship. Their chants calling for a cease-fire in the conflict demonstrated their fervor and determination to bring attention to the issue.
However, it is important to note that there is no confirmation that the ship was indeed headed to Israel or carrying weapons. While the protesters expressed their certainty, it is crucial to await further information before drawing conclusions. The Cape Orlando, a ship that has been utilized in previous wars, was finally able to depart from the port after authorities removed the protesters clinging to the rope ladder.
The organizer of the demonstration, the Arab Resource Organizing Center, demands action from Oakland’s leaders in order to “stop this genocide.” Their belief that the ship was transporting weapons to Israel highlights the deep concern for the ongoing conflict and the desire for a resolution.
Through protests like these, activists aim to raise awareness of the situation and put pressure on governments to take action. While the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues, it is important for individuals to remain informed and critically analyze the information presented to them. Only through open dialogue and peaceful resolutions can we hope to achieve lasting peace in the region.
