Markwayne Mullin, the Secretary of Homeland Security, is testifying before Congress for a second day, focusing on the department’s fiscal 2027 budget request. The Department of Homeland Security is asking for $118.4 billion in total funding starting Oct. 1, including nearly $23 billion for Customs and Border Protection and $10.5 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Mullin and Deputy Secretary Troy Edgar will appear before the House Homeland Security Commitee, after answering questions the prior day in a Senate appropriations subcommittee hearing. The House hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday.


Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin is testifying before Congress for the second day in a row regarding his department’s budget request for the upcoming fiscal year.

The Department of Homeland Security is requesting $118.4 billion in overall funding for fiscal 2027, starting Oct. 1, as proposed by the White House. Nearly $23 billion of that money is reserved for Customs and Border Protection, and another $10.5 billion is set aside for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
