Hunter Biden’s lawyer predicts his release without any conditions.

Hunter Biden’s Lawyer Optimistic About Plea Deal

“My expectation … is he’ll be released without conditions,” said attorney Chris Clark after MSNBC’s Katy Tur asked whether Biden would be on probation, adding that “the ultimate decision of the case is going to be up to the judge.”

Prosecutors charged Biden with a felony gun crime and misdemeanor tax crime charges on Tuesday, the latter of which he has agreed to plead guilty to in a likely exchange for no prison time.

Resolution of the Investigation

Clark said earlier Tuesday that he believes the federal investigation against his client is now “resolved.” The U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware, however, said in a statement announcing the charges that “the investigation is ongoing.”

“Hunter will take responsibility for two instances of misdemeanor failure to file tax payments when due pursuant to a plea agreement,” Clark said, according to CNBC.

“A firearm charge, which will be subject to a pretrial diversion agreement and will not be the subject of the plea agreement, will also be filed by the Government,” Clark said. “I know Hunter believes it is important to take responsibility for these mistakes he made during a period of turmoil and addiction in his life. He looks forward to continuing his recovery and moving forward.”

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden said they “love their son” in a Tuesday statement.

“The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life,” the White House statement read. “We will have no further comment.”

Congressional Republicans announced the plea deal will have no impact on their probe into the Biden family’s overseas business dealings in countries including Ukraine, Russia, and China.
