WATCH: Claire McCaskill Says ‘Eff’ Republicans, GOP The Real Perpetrators Of ‘Cancel Culture’

Former Democratic senator and current MSNBC contributor Claire McCaskill said on-air Tuesday that she wants to say “eff ’em” to Republicans who talk about cancel culture while working to oust GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) from her leadership position.

“Think how far the Republican Party has fallen,” McCaskill said. “Now, not only do they accept people committing insurrection and sedition against our government, not only do they accept the President of the United States committing a fraud, a ‘big lie’ on our democracy, which we treasure, not only are they doing that, they’re continuing to sit silently as they oust a truth teller.”

“If one of these Republicans has the nerve to talk about cancel culture with what they’re doing to Liz Cheney, I would use such an unlady-like word right now if I could. I mean, eff ‘em,’” the Democrat continued, adding, “They want to lecture about Dr. Seuss and the cancel culture, and they are cancelling her, they are canceling Liz Cheney because she audacity to tell the truth. Shame on all of them.”

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) recently made a similarly incoherent argument.

“I don’t agree with Liz [Cheney] on much politically but, you know, that’s how we grow as a country,” he said, The Daily Wire reported. “This whole thing that everybody ought to march in lockstep, that is what leads people to destruction. People ought to have a diversity of thought. Diversity is very, very important. You want to limit it to gender and sometimes your race, it is also about thought. And I want to see a strong Republican Party.”

“This party, Republican Party today, is showing so much dishonor to the people who made it possible, the people who [inaudible] from Abraham Lincoln kept this party alive on the basis of anti-slavery, which, itself, was a big lie,” Clyburn continued. “And now, they’re perpetuating it.”

“Now they talk a lot about ‘cancel culture,’ this is the classic cancel culture,” the Democrat claimed. “They are perpetrating that which they argue they are against.”

In the case of Cheney, Republican voters and leading representatives have voiced their frustrations with Rep. Cheney for her strident and incessant anti-Trump efforts, seemingly letting the ultra-progressive Biden administration off the hook. Susan Davis reported this week on Cheney’s anti-Trump efforts and her position within the Republican Party, via NPR:

Host Sacha Pfeiffer: Is Cheney’s vote to impeach Trump the sole reason that some of her colleagues want to remove her from leadership? Or is there more to it than that?

Davis: There’s more to it than that. Obviously, the vote did not help. She was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump. But in the months since, she just hasn’t stopped talking about it. And the fact that her leadership job is one about public messaging has really put her in conflict with most House Republicans. She never misses an opportunity to push back against Donald Trump when he continues to insist baselessly that the 2020 election was fraudulent. She even went so far this past week to suggest that his ongoing efforts were dangerous for the country and could provoke more violence. And unlike most Republicans, she has said she wants Donald Trump to play no role in the Republican Party going forward and would not support him for president if he ran again in 2024.
