Instead, he decided to write a hit piece on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a GOP presidential candidate, focusing solely on his references to the Chinese Communist Party during the debate. Bump even criticized another GOP candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, for calling the CCP the “real enemy.”
Bump labeled any mention of the CCP as “pejorative,” disregarding the fact that it has been the official name of the party since its inception in 1921. These references have been widely used for almost a century, including the phrase “communist China” since the CCP took control in 1949.
It’s impossible to have warm and fuzzy feelings towards the CCP due to their numerous atrocities, such as the Great Famine that claimed millions of lives and the ongoing genocide against Uyghur Muslims. Internationally, the CCP has been involved in territorial disputes, economic coercion, intelligence gathering, and political interference. Can Bump name one thing the CCP has done to deserve our love and respect?
