Years before Holy Week, the Walter Reed Military Center issued a” Cease and Desist” message to Christian priests.

A community of Catholic priests was given a” cease and desist” order just days before Holy Week, and the Catholic Archdiocese for the Military Services is accusing Walter Reed National Military Medical Center of denying Catholic service members and veterans the right to practice their religion.

The Holy Name College Friary, a Catholic priest and brother community that has been active at the center for almost 20 years, was the target of Walter Reed’s’s order, according to the Christian archdiocese.

Therefore, it claims that just as Holy Week was about to start, the agreement for Catholic Pastoral Care was terminated at the end of March. The agreement was replaced by Walter Reed with one with a liberal defense contracting company that the archdiocese claims won’t be able to offer the necessary care.

Archbishop Timothy Broglio remarked in a speech,” It is incomprehensible that important rural care is taken away from the ill and the elderly when it was so readily around.”

This is a common instance where the proverb” If it is not broken, do not fix it” still holds true. I worry that awarding a plan to the lowest bidder missed the fact that they couldn’t offer the required support, he said. ” I sincerely hope that this disregard for the ill will end right away, and that their First Amendment rights may be upheld.”

The Archdiocese acknowledged that the chaplain’s’s work had stated that Christian treatment was being provided during Holy Week, but it added that without Christian monks, service members and veterans would be denied the freedom to practice their religion. Just an anointed Christian priest may perform certain fundamental Catholic rituals, such as the administration of Confession and the celebration of Mass.

The foundation, according to Walter Reed, is a” welcoming and healing atmosphere” that respects and supports” a complete variety of religious, moral, and social needs.”

” Those who wish to go may be given access to Catholic Easter Services tomorrow.” Mass will be celebrated, and an anointed Christian priest will lead Confession, according to the statement. A Christian pastor who has been ordained has worked at WRNMMC for many years, offering religious ceremonies to service customers, veterans, and their loved ones. Additionally, a rural care contract has been put in place to supplement the services offered.

According to the statement, the agricultural care contract is currently being reviewed to make sure it accurately meets the beneficiaries’ and patients’ spiritual needs. ” While persons at our infrastructure may now find their services, the Franciscan Diocese will not be hosting operations on Sunday congregation at this time.”

St. Pope John Paul II established the AMS to offer the Church’s’s solutions to support members and veterans both domestically and abroad. 1.8 million Catholics are cared for worldwide by the archbishop, which has no geographic limitations.
