Wages for lowest earning workers increased drastically over the last three years

Low-wage workers in the United States experienced a drastic pay increase over the course of the last three years.

The 10th percentile real hourly wage, which denotes the lowest-earning workers, increased by 9 % between 2019 and 2022. According to Economic Policy Institute study released on Thursday, this increase may be attributed to policies implemented in response to the COVID-19 crisis as well as the tightening labor market due to low unemployment, giving workers more leverage over their employers.

9th Federal Reserve Rate Since March 2022

According to Axios, Elise Gould, who co-wrote the analysis, said that” for so many individuals, they didn’t really realize that there might be better opportunities through there.”

With only 2 %, middle-wage workers, who fall between the 40th and 60th rankings of the income distribution, did not experience nearly as much of a rise as their lower counterparts. The team did, though, grow as a result of many plan investments, including enhanced unemployment insurance, payments for economic impact, and child care tax credits.

The lowest-paid workers in the nation are still only receiving a really large salary, despite significant wage increases. According to EPI’s calculations, the 10th pay hourly pay was just$ 12.57 last year, which is not nearly enough for someone to maintain a respectable standard of living anywhere in the United States.

According to Social Security Administration data also examined by EPI, wages for the top 1 % and 0.1 % increased from 2019 to 2021 to 16.1 %, 29.2 %, in addition to the lower earners.

According to a recent report from WFH Research, people who work electronically or in person make more money than those who only work part-time. At least$ 80,000 per year is the average annual salary for workers who alternate between work and home, and this number rises with the number of days they work from home.
