Virginia State Senate Rejects Updated Communism Curriculum, Claiming Its Racist to Asians

American families have had to wake up in recent years about what their children are learning, and how they’re not learning in public schools. The state of our education system may be the most disastrous since its creation. It is characterized by falling literacy rates and failing math scores.

COVID lockdowns allowed parents to see the content of their children’s learning, which was a part of what COVID locked downs enabled. Due to diversity consulting firms and teacher’s unions making money on brainwashing children, everything from critical race theory to gender ideologies has been incorporated into the national curriculum.

So it’s not surprising that so many Americans of school age and my age can’t function in regular society. Some states have created mechanisms to correct this situation. To be honest, however, Virginia’s state Senate is a bit sceptical about teaching Communism’s dangers.

We don’t want to offend

Virginia Delegate John Avoli introduced House Bill 1816. It would cover not only basic knowledge of Communism, but also Social Studies and History courses. The Governor would be required to declare November 7th as a Victims of Communism Day. This would require that all public schools in the state honor the more than 100 million Communism victims.

It seems reasonable. It seems reasonable. After all, there are entire months devoted to history. How could it be harmful to ensure that public school students spend one day a year learning about the true impacts of Communism throughout the years?

According to one state teacher’s union, this could be discriminatory against Asian Americans. Emily Yen, research coordinator at the Virginia Education Association (VEA), The bill “Four out of the five current communist regimes are countries that are in Asia. We are concerned that this bill would subject Asian American students to anti-Asian sentiment and we think that we would oppose this bill.”

Just like that, politicians surrendered to Big Education.

Flawed Argument

It is a common belief that current events and historical aspects should not be taught because they could cause discrimination against certain students. This would mean that our society should stop teaching history and current events. We live in an age where anyone can find offense with food.

Ms. Ms. It is both insulting and quite telling that this could be true.

Contrarily, some of the arguments against this bill were more based on current state curriculum standards which claim Communism has been taught. Virginia currently has two sections that teach Communism.

  • The rise of totalitarianism in Asia and the conflict and revolutionary movements in Asia
  • Among them are Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-Shek and Deng Xiaoping from China and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s prominent leaders

So, why is it important to codify the teaching about the dangers associated with Communism?

Cold Civil War

Recent polling shows that while you can present the basic facts of a concept to a student, it is not enough to teach critical thinking and analysis. As an example, 2019 saw a significant increase in the number of people who are able to read and write. YouGov poll It was found that over a third of millennials approve of Communism.

Before you brush that off as just young and dumb ‘kids,’ remember that your favorite spicy political commentator is a millennial. True, I am a millennial. I’m definitely not a spring chicken.

In that same poll, 57% of 23 – 38-year-olds believed the Declaration of Independence better “guarantees freedom and equality” The Communist Manifesto. Just over half of my age group believe that one of our most fundamental founding documents is a better guide to freedom than the Communist Manifesto.

Fast forward to 2021. 28% of Gen Z Americans are now a favorable view 30% are favorable to Marxism, and 30% to Communism. This same generation of Americans is only a third aware that the Chinese Communist Party has killed far more people than Nazism.

Let’s think about it for a moment. This basically means that statistically, some third of respondents still consider Communism favorable, despite knowing that there has been a lot of killing.

Some on the right have taken to their cause by this resurgence in support for Communism. Claim we are in the midst of a ‘cold civil war’ against ‘woke communists.’ Interesting to think that the term ‘woke’ and ‘communism’ would be such cozy bedfellows.

Conformity is a tempting drug

Virginia is not the only state that has attempted to make it a priority to teach the dangers and consequences of Communism to students at school. The bill was signed by Governor Ron DeSantis last year, requiring that Florida’s public schools dedicate at least 45 minutes teaching about the dangers and consequences of Communism.

This coincides perfectly with his proclamation naming November 7th a National Day of Service “Victims of Communism Day.” For those of us who were educated in an awful public school that didn’t teach much about history, the Bolshevik revolution is celebrated on November 7, and thus the foundation of Soviet Union.

The Florida bill, among other things, It is necessary How Communism can be taught “poverty, starvation, migration, systemic lethal violence, and suppression of speech.” These are all valuable lessons from the left’s drive to silence speech, demonize hardwork and wealth.

Arizona has a similar bill. Louisiana Senator John Kennedy recently introduced one. submitted A similar proposal is also available. Will this change the minds and hearts of Generation Z and millennials?

It is not hard to believe, considering the influence of Big Education on our youth. One political science professor said: , “…capitalism is clearly and undeniably failing. It’s directly responsible for the climate catastrophe and everybody knows it.”

It is an interesting argument considering China produces more pollution than the United States. However, capitalism is difficult as many things that are worthwhile in life.

My generation and others have learned to detest hard work, perseverance, and that they are not worth it. We don’t have the ability to see that life isn’t fair. Resilience is the ability to take the blows and get back up.

Naturally, it is attractive to surrender responsibility for our lives and futures in order to allow Big Government control of our fates. My generation and others that will follow don’t seem to understand the cost of this drug.

Adlai Stevenson stated, “Communism is the death of the soul. It is the organization of total conformity – in short, tyranny – and it is committed to making tyranny universal.” We are all losing our souls to the woke communists, so the question remains: Are we too late?
