Viral Video: Russia Army Ad Vs. New ‘Woke’ Biden-Era U.S. Army Ad. The Differences Are Stark.
A video highlighting the stark contrast between a Russian military recruitment ad and a recent “woke” U.S. Army ad went viral last week (video below).
The hardcore Russian recruitment ad emphasizes uniformity and shows traditionally masculine men working with guns and getting their heads shaved.
The U.S. ad featured in the side-by-side video, as highlighted by The Daily Wire, is part of a “series of cartoon recruitment ads saturated with woke themes, such as advocating for LGBT issues.” This particular ad features an LGBT rights march and a lesbian wedding:
“This is the story of a soldier who operates your nation’s Patriot missile Defense Systems. It begins in California with a little girl raised by two moms,” a woman says as the video, titled “Emma,” begins.
“Although I had a fairly typical childhood — took ballet, played violin — I also marched for equality,” the woman says as the ad shows a cartoon of an LGBT rights march.
She adds that when she was six years old, “one of my moms” had an accident that left her paralyzed but recovered, “eventually standing at the altar to marry my other mom.” She praises her moms as “powerful role models.”
The video blew up online, sparking comments from senators. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), for example, reacted: “Holy crap. Perhaps a woke, emasculated military is not the best idea.”

MSNBC host Brian Williams ripped Cruz’s commentary and accused him of being tool of communism and Russian President Vladimir Putin, The Daily Wire highlighted.
“Now, with his trademark ignorant snark, he’s dubbed me ‘Kremlin Cruz,’” Cruz responded. “Three problems: I hate communists, my family was imprisoned & tortured by communists, and Brian is a shameless apologist for Russian (and Chinese and Cuban) communists. I was arguing that our military needs to be able to kick the ass of Russian soldiers. It’s Brian & his lefty comrades that are working relentlessly to diminish the effectiveness of the U.S. military—the finest fighting force on the face of the planet.”
As highlighted by The Daily Wire earlier this month, the CIA recently released “new recruitment ads aimed at millennials, despite the scoffs and criticism with which the previous installments were met”:
The latest “Humans of CIA” video ad features a man who says he is an agency librarian for the CIA and describes his struggles with being gay and the acceptance he encountered at the CIA.
“Growing up gay in a small Southern town, I was lucky to have a wonderful and accepting family. I always struggled with the idea that I may not be able to discuss my personal life at work,” the man in the CIA ad says. “Imagine my surprise when I was taking my oath at the CIA and I noticed a rainbow on then-Director Brennan’s lanyard.”
One of the agency’s previous ads prompted ridicule on social media.
“I am a woman of color. I am a mom. I am a cisgender millennial who has been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. I am intersectional, but my existence is not a box-checking exercise,” a woman in the earlier ad said.
Several GOP members of Congress accused the CIA of working to develop its wokeness credentials rather than focusing on its intelligence operations. However, the agency defended the ad campaign this month, saying it has been successful at attracting new recruits to the CIA.
