Vance to hold first press briefing since July

Joe Concha,a Washington Examiner columnist, predicts that Vice President JD Vance will address Iran’s economic crisis during a White House press briefing. Concha highlighted Iran’s soaring inflation rates, which have doubled overall and quadrupled for certain foods, attributing Iran’s economic decline to ongoing conflicts that have also impacted regional stability. He suggests this economic turmoil could led to Iran’s collapse, similar to the Soviet Union’s downfall. The briefing will be the first since july and is expected to cover topics such as U.S. inflation, which has since decreased from a peak of 9.1% during the Biden management to around 3.4%, though some view this still as insufficient progress. Concha notes that Vance may also be questioned about his political future, including possible presidential ambitions for 2028, though a major declaration seems unlikely at this time. Additionally, discussions may include critiques of Democrats’ handling of inflation, considering it was higher when they held power. The briefing will also address broader economic issues, U.S. foreign policy, and recent political statements.

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha predicted what Vice President JD Vance will discuss during a White House press briefing on Thursday.

“Iran’s inflation rate is up 100% right now, it’s up 400% on some food items,” Concha said on Fox News’s Fox and Friends First on Thursday morning, ahead of the vice president’s appearance.

The war in Iran has led to price increases ahead of midterm elections. Iran’s economy has begun to crumble, and Concha said it will likely be its downfall, similar to the Soviet Union’s collapse.

The White House briefing will be the first one since July, after Karoline Leavitt’s departure.

“On our own economy, I think he’ll make the point that our inflation, or our CPI, is around 3.4% and are expected to fall below 3%,” Concha said.

Concha said while not as low as some would hope, it was still an improvement from the from the 9.1% inflation that peaked during the “autopen” Biden administration.

“So I’m guessing [Vance] will likely say that Democrats keep running on affordability, but when they had the keys to the car, inflation was nearly three times higher,” Concha said. With many Democrats running on affordability concerns, Concha said inflation was three times higher when Democrats were in charge.

Vance could potentially also be asked about his future ambitions, with talks about a presidential run in 2028, as he was named a possible front-runner. Concha said there was a slim chance of any major announcement on the presidential front, but wouldn’t be surprised if Vance, only 41, temporarily set aside ambitions for the presidency to allow U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a chance at the seat.
