Trump Admin Ends Funding For ‘Trans’ Child Mutilation Procedures
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it will stop all U.S. government funding through Medicaid and CHIP for procedures related to gender transition in minors, including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries. This decision is based on concerns about the irreversible harm and lack of sufficient evidence supporting these treatments for children. CMS’s final rule emphasizes the safety risks and the experimental nature of these interventions, citing investigations and reports that question their medical validity.
Former President Donald Trump praised the move, condemning these procedures as barbaric and harmful to children, and highlighted efforts by hospitals to end such treatments. The Department of Health and Human Services reviewed available evidence and found safety concerns and notable gaps, reinforcing the stance against federal funding for these procedures.
Even organizations like the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), which previously promoted these treatments, now acknowledge that their standards are opinions amid ongoing medical debate. The new policy allows a tapering process for children already on such treatments but does not impact mental health services. Stakeholders argue that this measure prioritizes children’s welfare over controversial medical practices associated with gender-transition procedures.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced Tuesday that it is stopping all U.S. taxpayer funding of child genital mutilation surgeries and cross-sex hormones.
CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz announced that Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will cease all funding for the “sex-rejecting procedures on children, which include puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical operations.” CMS stated that these dangerous procedures “can result in irreversible damage, including infertility, impaired sexual function, diminished bone density, altered brain development, and other lasting physiological effects.”
The directive is being implemented through a final rule, meaning it will have the force and effect of law.
“Medicaid will NO LONGER fund gender transition surgeries or hormones for minors. We are not going to pay for our innocent children to undergo these barbaric surgeries and practices, which result in unthinkable and irreversible harm to their young bodies,” President Donald Trump wrote on social media. “Thanks to our strong position and pressure on this issue over the past year and a half, dozens of U.S. hospitals have already ended this so-called ‘gender-affirming care,’ and we expect many more to follow. Just think about all of the young, innocent, and perhaps confused children who will be spared!”
“While the Dumocrat Party wants your kids to be able to chop off their reproductive organs before they are old enough to vote, President Donald J. Trump (ME!) and the Republican Party say that is ABSURD, and we will protect America’s children,” Trump added.
CMS is under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which conducted its own review of the medical interventions on children, finding “evidence gaps, documented serious safety concerns, and concluded that the evidence supporting these interventions for children remains insufficient to justify federal taxpayer funding.”
The medical interventions are “experimental and life-altering sex-rejecting procedures that carry serious long-term health risks and lack sufficiently reliable evidence of clinical benefit,” the agency stated. CMS also referenced the Cass Report from the United Kingdom, which exposed the international “transgender” ideological movement toward mutilating and chemically castrating children as having a hollow scientific backing.
“Children deserve our protection, not experimental interventions that pose serious risks and convey no proven benefits,” Oz stated. “By cutting off federal funds for these sex-rejecting procedures, we’re following the science, saving taxpayer dollars, and, most importantly, protecting children from potentially irreversible harm so they can truly flourish.”
Even the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) — perhaps the biggest perpetrator of the “transgender” ideology in the globe and author of the “standards of care” for how doctors should treat patients claiming to be the opposite sex — now admits in court that their “standards” are an opinion. The medical community has enforced WPATH’s standards of care as the only legitimate response to children having these kinds of mental issues, even though these standards require an “affirmation only” approach to dealing with gender dysphoria and advocate castrating and mutilating children as early as possible.
Despite previously claiming to be the primary authority on the subject, the organization is now claiming in court that it merely represents one side of an unsettled medical debate, and opinions operate in the realm of “medical and scientific uncertainty” and take shelter under the umbrella of “free speech.”
According to the final rule, Medicaid and CHIP funding will still be able to be used for a six-month “tapering-off period” for children already placed on the drugs, but it “does not affect coverage of mental health services.”
“President Trump has finally shut down the flow of Medicaid money into child gender transitions, and it’s about time someone in Washington put kids and families first,” Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, said in a statement. “No hardworking American should be forced to bankroll irreversible hormones and surgeries that carve up healthy young bodies under the banner of a radical ideology.”
