Exclusive: Texas Dem Talarico Caught In Lie On Trans Insanity

James Talarico, the creepy “Christian who hates Christianity,” once described God as “nonbinary” and called opposition to men playing in women sports a “far-right” conspiracy. Now, the Democratic Party’s young candidate for Senate in red Texas desperately wants Lone Star State moderate voters to believe he’s had a road to Damascus moment on the subject. 

“I oppose trans athletes playing in girls’ sports if it endangers safety or fairness,” Talarico told Fox News earlier this month. 

His sudden change of heart sounds inauthentic in the way that his professed love of “trans children” comes across as just plain weird. We have the receipts. Unearthed footage exclusively obtained by The Federalist rips off the mask of Talarico’s phony “moderating” position.

Talarico may be creepy, but he isn’t stupid. He’s a slimy politician who knows that all of the wacky stuff he has said to get elected state representative in a far-left Texas district doesn’t play well in the Panhandle and West Texas. He — or at least his deep-pocketed campaign — knows that most Texans don’t believe dudes pretending to be women should be competing in women’s sports. So Talarico, in political parlance, has recalibrated. 

“Candidates like James Talarico in the Texas Senate race are trying to reconcile past positions receiving new scrutiny,” CNN gingerly put it.

In other words, they’re lying. And the usual suspects in the accomplice media have generally let them get away with it. The ever farcical Politifact recently came to Talarico’s rescue, covering his trans tracks with one of the more absurdly disingenuous pieces the Theatre of the Absurd political “fact-checker” has ever coughed up. 

The Democrat has a record, and it’s crazy. More so, it’s become quite difficult to hide from in a critical race for the Democratic Party — in a state no Senate Democrat contestant has won since the days of acid-washed jeans, jelly shoes, and New Kids on the Block. 

Let’s take a look. 

‘I Just Want to Say, ‘I Love You’

In 2021, the Texas House education committee held a hearing on a bill requiring public school athletes to play on sports teams corresponding with their biological sex. Talarico called it a dangerous debate over a “manufactured problem.” The only reason the Republican-controlled committee was taking up the bill at all, Talarico claimed, was because some Republicans wanted “to brag to their far-right primary voters that hurt trans kids.”

“The same voters who think the election was stolen, the same voters who are pushing us to waste time on these culture war issues,” the state rep. declared during the May 4, 2021 committee meeting, in unearthed video obtained by The Federalist. 

He warned that support of the bill keeping males out of female sports would “be a stain that we can’t remove,” before sanctimoniously telling his colleagues that he would “pray for forgiveness for this committee.” Such prayers might well seem hallow coming from an Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary student who once boasted that Texas has “some of the best drag queens in the nation.” He was fighting against a bill aimed at banning sexually explicit displays — including nudity and sexual gesticulations — in public or in front of children. A Reagan-appointed federal district judge earlier this year ruled the ban on drag shows was unconstitutional. 

In October 2021, Talarico delivered a bizarre speech on the sports bill before the full Texas House. 

“To the trans kids watching at home, I just want to say, ‘I love you,’” said the House member who at the time very much supported biological males competing against biological females. 

He proceeded to vote no on House Bill 25, joining 57 of his fellow Democrats in the nay camp. 

It is interesting to note that while today’s Talarico talks about  “safety and fairness” in women’s sports,  in 2021’s debate he argued that “some things are more important than perfectly fair competition in sports.”

A campaign official did not return The Federalist’s request for comment. The email included this question: “Has Mr. Talarico changed his position on this issue and other related matters? Or is he simply lying for political advantage?”

‘Good Old-Fashioned Lies’

Team Talarico gets downright defensive when challenged on the leftist’s positions of convenience. They know they can count on a shameless Democrat-friendly corporate media for backup. 

Earlier this month, Talarico campaign spokesman JT Ennis touted the Politifact piece headlined “Texas ad distorts James Talarico’s vote on gender-affirming care for children.” The political hack fact-checker rates as “false” claims by a Republican-aligned Texas PAC that Talarico “supported using taxpayer dollars for sex change surgeries on young children.” Texas PAC in support of Talarico’s Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, has pumped north of $60 million into the race — much of the money hitting Talarico on his far-left record. 

Ennis rejoiced in Politifact’s “Truth-O-Meter” pronouncement, accusing the super PAC of peddling “good old-fashioned lies.” 

Really? Let’s check the record. 

In 2023, the Republican-controlled Texas House passed a bill banning taxpayer-funded child sex changes. The law stops doctors from mutilating the genitalia of minors or administering puberty blockers and hormone treatment through Orwellian-sounding “gender-affirming care.” 

Talarico voted against the measure. He proposed an amendment that he claimed would “keep doctors from violating their Hippocratic oath.” In a House debate he said sex changes “in some cases does more good than harm.” He restated his belief that gender is a spectrum. Back then Talarico insisted that there are six genders. Earlier this month he told Fox News he “missed the mark” on that claim. Now, with the hindsight of poll numbers not supporting his wacky trans ideas, Talarico concedes, “There are not six sexes, there are two.”

Politifact, too, had to provide a correction, begrudgingly. Late last week, the piece was updated “to include additional information” about SB 14, the child sex change ban. Politifact noted that it was not changing its rating. It should. 

As the phony fact-checker notes, Talarico said during the Pflugerville Pride 2023 Legislative Panel the bill would deny “life-saving health care from our trans youth in Texas.” In voting against the bill, he supported — even if tacitly — taxpayer money paying for “gender reassignments” for children. 

‘He’ll Change His Tune’

The Texas PAC ad quotes Talarico in 2019 saying that it is “abusive” for a parent to deny their child’s “gender identity.”  Suddenly, as in this month (now 34 days to the election), Talarico says he would support a national ban on gender-reassignment surgery for minors. Apparently such a ban is no longer “abusive.” In a podcast this summer, the opportunist Democrat claimed he opposes “gender-reassignment surgeries for minors.”

Some leftists aren’t buying what Talarico is now selling to voters. Undercover footage obtained by The Daily Wire shows Babs Miller, the lesbian pastor at Talarico’s church, discussing the Democrat’s apparent move to the political center. Pastor Babs, who also claimed that “we have no way of knowing if Jesus really existed,” said Talarico would return to his leftist senses once elected. 

“He’s getting some advice that I don’t think he should be following,” Miller said in the viral clip. “I can guarantee you that once he gets elected, he’ll change his tune back to where he was.”
