Trump Opponents Try To Gin Up Panic With Fake Future Events

This article critiques recent media narratives, focusing on exaggerated fears about political conspiracies and future events that lack credible evidence. It highlights how outlets like The new Republic and others have published alarming predictions about Donald Trump allegedly planning a coup or undermining democracy, based on unsubstantiated claims and assertions rather than solid proof. The author criticizes the tendency of certain media to generate manufactured panic, labeling these stories as part of a pattern of “casual media psychosis” that has persisted for over a decade. The piece emphasizes that criticizing public officials, including Trump, is valid, but it condemns the propagation of fake future scenarios intended to stoke hysteria. Ultimately, it urges readers to be skeptical of sensationalized reports and questions the credibility of sources that rely on baseless predictions.

It’s all so tiresome.

The formerly adequate New Republic reported absolutely TERRIFYING news late last week about … things they completely made up that are for sure going to happen in their make-believe future. In an essay written by the now-obviously-insane former federal judge Michael Luttig, the magazine warned that Donald Trump is about to launch a huge coup d’état in which he’s not going to allow Democrats to hold seats in Congress anymore. Here’s the headline, framed as a description of “the coming crisis.”

COMES NOW THE FINAL BATTLE. It sounds like a lazy Star Wars spinoff. See, what Luttig knows is about to happen in the future is that Republicans in the House are going to reject the results of the upcoming election and only seat their fellow MAGA TERRORISTS: “House Republicans are now poised to claim that the midterm elections were stolen from them when they meet on January 3 to decide which members-elect will be seated in the 120th Congress.”

Luttig explains the fake future steps: First Speaker Mike Johnson will fire the House clerk and replace him with a slavish MAGA puppet, and then “sometime before the 120th Congress has been gaveled into session, the loyal temporary clerk refuses to list Democrat representatives-elect on the clerk’s roll of representatives-elect that determines who may participate in organizing the new Congress.”

Read the whole thing, if you hate yourself and want to punish your soul. Here’s the link again. See if you can find the part where Luttig identifies his evidence and his sources, because I sure couldn’t. He just typed up a description of future events, on the basis of because-I-said-so, and then it was published.

We’ve now lived through a full decade of this casual media psychosis. This fake story was reported everywhere after the 2016 election, but the Huffington Post managed to bump up the hysteria by several notches:

“And so it begins.” Ten years later, do you see how no one is ever allowed to have birth control anymore? KNEEL BEFORE TRUMP, HANDMAIDS!

Luttig’s psychotic hallucination isn’t even the first time a witless leftist thumbsucking publication has warned that we’re about to have the last election Trump will ever allow us to have, and 2026 is at least our second final midterms.

Everyone who holds elected office is fair game for criticism, and it’s just fine to criticize Donald Trump. But what does it mean that these drooling idiots can’t criticize him without manufacturing fake future events?
