US says it destroyed five Iranian tankers after Navy warship targeted with missiles
On Tuesday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it destroyed five Iranian crude oil tanker vessels in the Gulf of Oman in retaliation for recent missile attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeting a U.S. Navy warship over two consecutive days. The targeted ships included M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, M/T Riesco, and Derya near Kharg Island. CENTCOM stated that the crews had been ordered to abandon the vessels prior to their strike, rendering them inoperable.this action appears to be a response to Iran’s failed attack efforts, escalating U.S. military measures in the region.

“In response to Iran’s most recent failed attacks, CENTCOM destroyed the IRGC crude oil carriers M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, and M/T Riesco in the Gulf of Oman as well as M/T Derya near Kharg Island. American forces directed the crews to abandon ship before the vessels were struck and rendered inoperable,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
