The casualty was found in the ocean, unconscious and not breathing, and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The status of the remaining crew members is currently unknown.
Japanese Vice Defense Minister Hiroyuki Miyazawa revealed that the American colleagues described the incident as an “emergency water landing.” First responders arrived at the scene after a witness reported the incident to emergency services.
The Osprey aircraft, known for its ability to fly like both a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft, has faced safety concerns in the past. Since its first flight in 1989, 51 American service members have lost their lives in accidents involving the Osprey.

How has the closure of brick-and-mortar stores influenced the surge in online shopping
There has been a significant increase in the demand for online shopping due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With people being urged to stay at home and practice social distancing, many have turned to online shopping as a way to avoid going to physical stores. This has led to a surge in online orders, with many online retailers experiencing record-breaking sales.
One of the main reasons for the increase in demand is the convenience and safety that online shopping offers. People can purchase the products they need right from the comfort of their own homes, without having to worry about potential exposure to the virus in crowded stores. Additionally, many online retailers have implemented safety measures such as contactless delivery and increased sanitation practices to further reassure customers.
Another factor contributing to the surge in online shopping is the closure of many brick-and-mortar stores. With non-essential businesses being forced to shut down or limit their operations, consumers have had no choice but to turn to online platforms to fulfill their shopping needs.
The popularity of online grocery shopping has also soared during the pandemic. With many individuals avoiding crowded supermarkets, they have been opting to purchase their groceries online and have them delivered to their homes. This has led to increased demand for delivery slots and a strain on grocery delivery services.
Overall, the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed consumer behavior and accelerated the shift towards online shopping. It is expected that this trend will continue even after the pandemic subsides, as people have become accustomed to the convenience and advantages of online shopping.
