US Commerce Department Adds 14 Chinese Firms to Unverified List, Increasing Scrutiny

14 Chinese businesses have been added to a list of trade precautions by President Joe Biden’s leadership, mandating that U.S. exporters carefully record their business dealings before delivering goods to the Chinese companies on the list.

These Chinese companies were added to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Unverified List ( UVL ) on Thursday after officials were unable to confirm certain characteristics of these foreign business entities, such as the final use of the goods exported to these companies.

The following Foreign organizations have joined the UVL:

  1. Consolidated Trading Airpart
  2. Ltd. ECOM International ( HK ) Co.
  3. Trusme Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. of Guangzhou
  4. ( HKPW ) HK P & W Industry Co. Ltd.
  5. International Forwarding ( HK ) Jet – Prop Ltd.
  6. Services for Kesina
  7. Ltd. Lightstar Technology
  8. Ltd. Shandong Yuehaitongxin
  9. Ltd. Shengwei Technology Co.
  10. Ltd. Small Leopard Electronics
  11. Ltd. Solar Way( Hong Kong )
  12. Electronics Sunway Technology Ltd.
  13. UK-based USETA Tech ( HK ) Ltd.
  14. Global Trading Co. Finalists

As suggested by their inclusion on the UVL, information is limited for several of these businesses. A web page of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council indicates Consolidated Trading Airpart deals primarily with the import and export of aircraft components. The names of several of the other listed entities suggest they deal with electronics and other technology components.

According to Matthew S. Axelrod, assistant secretary for trade enforcement for the DOC,” it is essential that [ the Bureau of Industry and Security ] be able to conduct end-use checks to verify compliance with U.S. trade control rules.” To limit proposed trade transactions and stop the diversion of U.S. goods, we will keep adding parties to the Unverified List in cases where we are unable to confirm the legitimacy of strange parties.

The list might set off a 60-day clocks that would result in even harsher penalties for the Chinese companies.

Following the release of the new ads, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves stated that” enforcing our trade controls is a necessary part of protecting American national confidentiality.” We are dedicated to determining how cutting-edge U.S. concept is being used globally using all of the tools at our disposal.

The US is becoming more afraid of Taiwanese businesses.

The Commerce Department added five companies from the United Arab Emirates, two from Germany, a second object from Bulgaria, Canada, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore to the UVL on Thursday, joining the 14 Chinese firms.

The UVL’s exclusion does not imply that U.S. producers are prohibited from conducting business with the foreign entities on the list or that there are particular articulable national security or foreign policy issues related to those entities. The Commerce Department stated that the addition of entities from familiar trading countries like Canada, Germany, and Israel to the UVL is also not intended to be used as a punishment against any specific country or authorities.

However, being excluded from the UVL does require U.S. companies that conduct business with these listed foreign entities to submit additional paperwork, such as a declaration from authorized representatives of the international organizations.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington criticized the choice to include the Taiwanese companies on the list, despite the Commerce Department’s insistence that doing so is not always a punishment solution. China” deeply regrets and gently opposes” the Commerce Department’s decisions against the 14 Chinese companies, according to the Chinese Embassy. The embassy added that the action was a progression of American efforts to” abuse trade manage measures” and” use state power to control and carry foreign companies.”

The Chinese ambassador continued,” The U.S. hand should immediately stop its right practices.” China may take the necessary steps to steadfastly protect the rights and interests of Taiwanese businesses.

The decision to include these 14 Chinese companies in the UVL was made in response to growing U.S. officials’ worries about the threats to national security posed by Taiwanese businesses operating within the country or conducting business with American partners and clients. On the same day that politicians questioned the Chairman of the Chinese-owned TikTok game about how the social media platform businesses and manages U.S. user data, the Commerce Department added these 14 Taiwanese businesses to the UVL. The lawmakers also expressed concern that the game is being used by the ruling Chinese Communist Party ( CCP) to spy on Americans.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington was contacted by NTD News for more remark, but they did not respond before this article was published.
