US announces aid package to Ukraine as Xi and Putin meet in Moscow

The US government announced on Monday an aid package as military support to Ukraine, as Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, were meeting in Moscow.

The Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, declared the aid package, which is evaluated at approximately $350 million, will include various kinds of ammunition, and other equipment such as HIMARS and howitzers.

This is the 34th delivery of military aid provided by the US government to Ukraine, surpassing a total sum of $30 billion.

The Biden Administration did not approve Ukraine’s requests for long-range missiles or F-16 fighter aircraft.

Meanwhile, the battle in Bakhmut, Ukraine, remains at a stalemate after several months, with both sides incurring losses.

As Xi visited Moscow, he claims China is promoting peace, but Beijing’s peace plan proposal, which would allow Russia to keep its current territory in Ukraine, was immediately rejected by Kyiv and the US.
