Two people climb to top of Empire State Building with flag

Two individuals dressed in black with masks climbed to the top of the Empire State Building in New York and displayed a flag with the message, “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.” The flag was hung at the building’s radio and television transmission tower. The climbers appeared to be a man and a woman, and the event seemed staged as a proposal, with the man getting on one knee on a platform near the top. Thay were reportedly taken into custody after descending. The Empire State building, about 1,454 feet tall, is the fourth-tallest in the city. Authorities from the NYPD have been contacted for further details.


Two people climbed to the top of the Empire State Building in New York on Wednesday and unveiled a flag.

The flag, consisting of white text against a black background, read, “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.”

They hung the flag at the top of the Empire State Building’s radio and television transmission tower, which is used by local stations.

The two were wearing all black with masks, and appeared to be a man and a woman. The duo first appeared at the top of the building around noon and began descending around 12:45 p.m. They were reportedly taken into custody after they climbed down.

The event appeared to be a proposal, with the man getting on one knee while they were on a platform connected to the building’s antenna.

The building is about 1,454 feet tall and is the fourth-tallest building in the city.
