Twitter deactivates the” government-funded marketing” label from the RT accounts of NPR, CBC, BBC, and Russia.

Twitterhas lifted its “government-funded media” and “state-affiliated” labels from NPR, CBC, BBC, China’s Xinhu, and Russia’s RT accounts.

On April 12, NPR became the first significant news outlet to object to the” state-affiliated media” label on its Twitter account. It released a statement and ceased posting on its balance.

One social internet users observed that the government-funded names were also removed when Musk removed colored checkmarks from reputation accounts.

One Twitter user said,” Looks like when removing legacy verified blue checkmarks, Twitter unintentionally removed * all * state-affiliated, government-funded, and public – funded media tags on every account.”
