Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has broken his silence since being fired from the network, following a report that Biden administration officials in the Pentagon were happy about his ouster. Carlson had been a vocal critic of the U.S. military under President Joe Biden’s leadership, accusing them of prioritizing woke initiatives over being the most lethal fighting force in the world.

One senior DOD official told POLITICO that “We’re a better country without him bagging on our military every night in front of hundreds of thousands of people.” Another official added, “Good riddance.” Carlson responded to the report in a text message, saying, “Ha! I’m sure.”

Fox News’ decision to part ways with Carlson sent shockwaves throughout the media landscape. The network released a statement thanking him for his service and announcing that Fox News Tonight would be helmed by rotating personalities until a new host is named.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Carlson’s alleged open disdain for some of the executives at Fox News was what led to his ouster. The report claimed that Carlson’s “famously combative stance toward members of Fox News management and other colleagues caught up with him,” and that his disregard for management and colleagues were a major factor in the decision to let him go.

The company’s lawyers reportedly told Carlson that they had persuaded the court to redact from legal documents an instance of when he called a senior Fox News executive a “c***” in a private message. Carlson allegedly told colleagues at the network that he wanted the world to know what he said about the executive. The report said that there was concern that if the redacted material in the Dominion court documents ever got out, it could cause further embarrassment for the company.
