Trump’s news conference on Iran moved to briefing room
Trump’s news conference about the Iran rescue mission was moved to the White House briefing room, a change announced by press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Easter Sunday due to “popular demand from the press.” The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern on Monday and will be the president’s third briefing in the White House this year. He is expected to hail the military for rescuing a U.S.airman stranded in Iranian territory, while the White House has denied rumors that he was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center over the weekend. The timing of the briefing aligns with ongoing discussion of the Iran situation, and Monday will mark Trump’s first public appearance since Wednesday’s address to the nation on the war.
Trump’s news conference on Iran rescue mission moved to White House briefing room
The White House has moved President Donald Trump‘s news conference on the successful rescue mission in Iran to the press briefing room.
Trump was due to hold the event in the Oval Office alongside military leaders, where he would only address a small group of reporters. But press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Easter Sunday that “due to popular demand from the press,” it would be moved to the briefing room.
The news conference will still take place at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Monday.
The change means Trump will appear in the briefing room for at least the third time this year. He most recently gave an impromptu news conference there after the Supreme Court struck down his “Liberation Day” tariffs in February.
While the mood for that briefing was downcast, the Monday news conference will be much different.
Trump will, in part, be heralding the military after it rescued a U.S. airman stuck in Iranian territory early Sunday.
The switch comes as the White House has been fiercely denying rumors that Trump was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center this weekend.
Those unfounded rumors began circulating on Saturday after the White House called a press lid in the morning, meaning Trump would not appear before the media for the rest of the day.
TRUMP HAILS ‘EASTER MIRACLE’ AFTER SECOND F-15 CREW MEMBER RESCUED FROM IRAN
Trump’s Truth Social account was still active during those hours, and the timing of the press lid coincided with the search-and-rescue operation in Iran.
The Monday press briefing will be the president’s first public appearance since Wednesday, when he gave his latest address to the nation on the Iran war.
