Trump’s Legal Team Hands Over Classified Docs to DOJ

After being found at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, the former President Trump’s legal team turned over classified material to Department of Justice. 

James Trusty, Trump’s attorney turned in a classified file and a computer belonging to an aide to federal agents on Friday. 

The classified material was apparently copied onto the computer. 

They also handed over a marked as “classified evening briefing” The DOJ. 

“It is customary in the circumstances such as this for investigators to search the computer to see if classified material is still on that computer,” John Cohen, an ex-acting undersecretary for intelligence in the Department of Homeland Security said. “They will also seek to determine if classified material was transmitted electronically to other computers or devices via that computer.” 

The folder was located in Trump’s Florida home’s main wing in January. It was not in the same storage area where other documents were discovered during an FBI raid last December. 

After more than 100 documents were discovered at Mar-a-Lago, the DOJ found several documents that Trump’s legal team had not received.

The investigation led by Jack Smith Special Counsel has been referred to as a political one by the former president. “witch hunt.” 

“[This] is nothing more than a targeted, politically motivated witch hunt against President Trump, concocted to try and prevent the American people from returning him to the White House,” ABC News was informed by a Trump spokesperson. “Just like all the other fake hoaxes thrown at President Trump, this corrupt effort will also fail. The weaponized Department of Injustice has shown no regard for common decency and key rules that govern the legal system.”

After he discovered classified documents, the FBI raided Mike Pence’s former home. In President Joe Biden’s possession were several top-secret papers, both from his Delaware residence and his previous D.C. Office.
