Trump warns Iran’s ‘whole civilization will die tonight’ unless deal is struck with US

President Donald Trump issued a bleak warning ahead of his Tuesday night deadline for Iran to reach a peace deal with the United States, saying “a whole civilization will die” unless Iranian leadership yields.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” Trump wrote in a Tuesday morning Truth Social post. “I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.”

Trump has threatened the “complete demolition” of Iran’s infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, if an agreement is not reached.

However, Trump left the door open to a deal, saying Tuesday morning that “maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen” in negotiations with Iran’s new leadership.

“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World,” Trump wrote. “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

Trump has imposed an 8 p.m. Eastern deadline for Iran’s negotiators to agree to a deal to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The strait has become a key point of leverage for Iran as its blockade on oil tankers has sent the price of energy worldwide skyrocketing.

Trump’s post comes after the U.S. launched strikes against 50 military targets on Kharg Island, the Middle Eastern country’s main oil export hub, according to multiple reports.

Iran reportedly rejected a proposal on Monday drafted by mediators from Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey that called for a 45-day ceasefire and reopening of the maritime channel, which is critical for oil transport.

WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ENERGY ASSETS IN THE IRAN WAR?

Trump said Monday that “very little is off limits” for the U.S. to target if Iran does not relent, and he added that every bridge and power plant will be out of business by midnight Wednesday.

“We have a plan because of the power of our military, where every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o’clock tomorrow night, where every power plant in Iran will be out of business, burning, exploding, and never to be used again,” Trump told reporters.
